Head of “Environmental and climate action”
Aneliya is a Research Fellow at the Climate, Atmosphere, and Water Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CAWRI-BAS) and a PhD Candidate in Ecological Economics at Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany. Her research focuses on governance and capacity-building challenges in the transition to sustainable development. In 2024, she was a visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies (iASK), UNESCO Chair for Cultural Heritage and Sustainability Management, in Köszeg, Hungary.
Aneliya holds Master’s degrees in Climate Change and Water Management from Sofia University and in Economics and International Business from New Bulgarian University, both in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is an active member of several European and international networks, including the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) Fellowship Programme with CEE Countries, the SDGs Taskforce of the Earth System Governance Project, and the European Society for Ecological Economics.
